TCI – Credit for special situations

Medical receivables advance for clinics, labs and medical companies

Clinics, labs, medical offices and medical companies share the same problem: the service has been delivered and the invoice has been issued, but the money only arrives weeks or months later. Meanwhile, payroll, rent, supplies and taxes keep falling due. Medical receivables advance exists to shorten that wait: you assign to TCI an amount you are already owed and get paid up front, with the discount disclosed before you sign.

01

What medical receivables advance is

A receivable is any amount your company has the right to receive in the future for a service already delivered: an invoice to a health plan or insurer, the invoice issued to a hospital or another contracting company, the production of a month that has already closed. Advancing that receivable means selling it (the technical name is assignment of credit) to a securitization company, which pays the amount up front at a discount and then collects from the debtor on the original date.

In practice, the clinic trades a future amount for a smaller present amount, without taking on debt. There are no installments to pay and no interest piling up month after month: whoever pays TCI at maturity is the debtor of the receivable, under the terms of the assignment agreement you sign.

02

Who it is for

Clinics and medical offices

that bill health plans and insurers and are paid for their production long after the care.

Labs and diagnostic centers

with revenue concentrated in a few insurers and hospitals.

Medical companies

which invoice hospitals, clinics, cooperatives or insurers and wait for the monthly close to get paid.

Cooperatives

that need cash to pay members and staff before they collect from the contracting parties.

If you are a healthcare professional who works shifts at an institution, the path is different: shift advance, done inside the institution's own app. This page is about the company's receivables.

03

How it works

The mechanism is the same as the receivables advance TCI offers to companies in other sectors, described on our home page. In four moves:

  1. Your company delivers the service and issues the invoice to the contracting party (health plan, insurer, hospital or another company), which will pay on a future date.

  2. The company assigns that receivable to TCI.

  3. TCI pays the company up front the receivable's amount minus the discount and any applicable fees and taxes, all disclosed before signing.

  4. At maturity, the contracting party pays TCI.

Before presenting the proposal, TCI analyzes the receivable and who will pay it. That analysis is where the discount is set: as with shift advance, rates are defined according to the credit analysis performed.

What TCI does

TCI Securitizadora is a credit company for special situations: receivables advance, commercial notes and, in healthcare, shift advance and medical receivables advance. It began operations in 2023, is part of TCP Partners and has a team with more than 15 years of experience in corporate finance and complex financial situations.

In medical receivables advance, TCI's role is to buy the credit that your clinic, lab or medical company is already owed by health plans, insurers, hospitals and other contracting parties, pay up front and collect at maturity. What goes into the transaction, under what conditions and at what discount is defined case by case, after the analysis; that is why the process starts with a conversation.

Benefits for the clinic

Cash in the present

The amount that would arrive in 30, 60 or 90 days arrives now and can pay payroll, suppliers, rent or an opportunity that will not wait.

Not a loan

You sell a credit that is already yours. There are no installments, and the transaction is not a bank credit line that has to be renewed.

Numbers on the table

Face value, discount, applicable fees and taxes and net amount are clear before you sign.

Less dependence on banks

The analysis looks at the receivable and who will pay it, not only at the limit the bank gives your company.

Personalized service

TCI works in situations that traditional banks usually do not serve, with specialized support throughout the transaction.

The assignment is formalized in the agreement, digitally signed, under the conditions presented in the proposal.

  5. Get paid up front

The net amount is paid into the company's account. At maturity, the contracting party pays TCI.

Frequently asked questions

What is medical receivables advance?

It is the assignment, to a securitization company such as TCI, of amounts that a clinic, lab, medical office or medical company is already owed by health plans, insurers, hospitals or other contracting parties. The company receives the amount minus the discount up front, and TCI collects from the debtor at maturity.

Which receivables can a clinic advance?

In general, amounts for services already delivered and documented that a third party will pay on a future date, such as invoices to health plans and insurers and invoices issued to hospitals and other companies. Which receivables qualify, and under what conditions, is defined in the analysis of each case; there is no single standard.

Is receivables advance a loan?

No. In a loan you receive money that is not yours and pay it back with interest, in installments. In an advance you sell a credit that is already yours and receive it up front, minus the discount. There are no installments; whoever pays TCI at maturity is the debtor of the receivable, under the assignment agreement.

How much does it cost? What is the discount?

The cost is the discount: the difference between the receivable's face value and the amount you receive up front, plus any applicable fees and taxes. It depends on the time to maturity and on the result of the credit analysis, and it is disclosed in full before you sign.

Who can apply?

Clinics, medical offices, labs, diagnostic centers, cooperatives and medical companies. What qualifies in each case is defined in the analysis.

What is the difference from shift advance?

Shift advance is for the professional who works shifts, inside the institution's own app, with a discount proportional to the days until the next payment window. Medical receivables advance is for the company, directly with TCI, on invoices and notes receivable from health plans, insurers, hospitals and other contracting parties.
