How shift advance works: step by step

Published on

Anyone who works shifts knows the math: the shift is done today, but payment comes at the month-end close, sometimes 30, 60 or 90 days later. Shift advance shortens that wait. In this article we explain what it is, how it works step by step on TCI's platform, what you see before confirming and what your institution needs in order to offer the benefit.

01

What shift advance is

Shift advance means receiving today, by PIX, the amount for shifts you have already worked and that your institution would only pay at the close. It is also called shift receivables advance: the shift worked and logged is an amount receivable, and TCI buys that credit at a discount. You choose how many shifts to advance; the rest follows the normal payment flow.

It is not a loan. You are not borrowing money from anyone to pay back later: you assign an amount that is already yours and receive it up front, minus the discount. There are no installments, nothing is recorded as debt under your CPF (Brazilian tax ID) and no credit limit is used.

02

Before you start: your institution needs to offer the benefit

The advance happens inside the app of the institution where you work shifts, under its brand and with TCI's capital. That is why the hospital, clinic, cooperative or staffing company needs to have the platform active. If yours does not offer it yet, you can refer it: TCI presents the product, the cost model and the pilot in a 30-minute conversation. The request is made through the form on the Shift Advance page, which opens WhatsApp.

Shift advance, step by step

1. Shift worked and logged

You work the shift as usual: 12 hours, 24 hours, night, weekend. The institution logs the shift on the platform and the corresponding amount shows as available to advance in the app. Only shifts already worked and logged by the institution qualify.

2. You choose how much to advance

In the app, you see the available shifts and choose which ones to advance: one, some or all. In a few taps the screen shows the gross amount, the discount and the net amount you will receive. There is no conversation with a manager, no request to HR and no paperwork.

3. Digital signature of the agreement

Each advance has an assignment agreement, which you read and accept on your own phone. The signature is digital and takes seconds. The signed agreement is kept in the transaction's audit trail.

4. PIX to your registered account

After you sign, the PIX is generated automatically by the platform's bank integration, with no operator typing anything. For requests made by 1 p.m., the PIX lands in your registered account the same day, by 6 p.m.; for requests made after 1 p.m., payment is made the next business day, by 6 p.m. The 1 p.m. cut-off may vary by institution. Brasília time.

04

What you see before confirming

Transparency is part of the product: before you sign, the screen shows three numbers.

Gross

The sum of the shifts you chose to advance.

Discount

The discount, proportional to the days left until the next payment window, the date on which the institution would pay the shift. The closer the window, the smaller the discount.

Net

What lands in your account, that is, the gross minus the discount.

To get an idea even before opening the app, use the simulator on the Shift Advance page: you enter how many shifts you want to advance and the average value of each, and see the estimate of gross, discount and net, with the date of the next window and how many days are left until it. As the simulator's note reminds you, interest rates are defined according to the credit analysis performed.

05

Who can advance shifts

Any healthcare professional who works shifts at an institution that uses TCI's platform and who works as a legal entity (PJ): doctors, nurses and nursing technicians, physiotherapists, dentists, psychologists, nutritionists, pharmacists, biomedical scientists, radiology technicians and others. The shifts can be in hospitals, urgent-care units, emergency rooms, clinics, health plans, cooperatives and staffing companies. The Shift Advance page has a who it's for section with the details by profession.

06

What changes for the hospital or clinic

For the institution, the payment flow does not change: it keeps paying the shifts on the original agreed date, and the advanced capital is TCI's. What changes is that the professional solves it alone in the app, and HR and roster coordination stop handling advance requests one by one. The platform is white-label, with the institution's logo and colors, and payments go out through bank integration, with automatic reconciliation. The details are in the for the institution section.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to advance all of the month's shifts?

No. You choose to advance one, some or all of the shifts available in the app, as many times as you need. Whatever is not advanced is paid by the institution in the normal flow.

How much does it cost to advance a shift?

The cost is the discount, proportional to the days between the advance and the next payment window. It appears on the screen before you confirm, next to the gross and the net, and can be estimated in the simulator on the Shift Advance page. Interest rates are defined according to the credit analysis performed.

When does the PIX land in my account?

After you request and sign in the app, the PIX is generated automatically, with no operator. For requests made by 1 p.m., the amount lands in your registered account the same day, by 6 p.m.; after 1 p.m., on the next business day, by 6 p.m. The 1 p.m. cut-off may vary by institution.
